Stan was part of an International team comprising of four riders from the UK, four from Denmark, two from Portugal and the remaing two from Austria .
Stan also finished 3rd in the 1955 Peace Race and won a silver medal in the 1956 Olympics.
Norman Sheil was a member of the Phoenix who became World Pursuit Champion in 1955 and 1958.
In June 2021 Louise Johnson, Hannah Fawcett and Janet Fairclough broke the world record for cycling to and then walking up the national 3 Peaks.
